Hmpf, the world compiles, but not the kernel.
Always program "as" gets signal 4.
I removed all cc-related make options.

Maybe I'll try booting with a new world and old kernel...
But I've got to be at the console then - so this has to wait
till evening.

I hope, still hope you are wrong.
And you would really call CPUTYPE an experimental feature ??
Sure gcc 2.95 has its issues, but ... well.
