Hi,

  I don't know the history of this, but the CCVER environment variable
controls the /usr/bin/gdb wrapper.  If CCVER is set to "gcc2" then the
binutils212 version of gdb is used.  The build of gdb based upon binutils
2.14 is commented out of the makefile, probably because some tweaking is
needed on the config.h header or Makefiles.  If you stick with gcc2,
then you should be able to do some debugging.

Sorry if I'm stating the obvious:)  I'd be happy to try getting gdb
working with binutils 2.14, if nobody is working on it.
