Re: XFree86 Lock up

I tried that before -- a while back -- when there was that bug that caused part of it to go in circles. This is a slow machine so I have not tried again.

However, I did use your pre-compiled packages, just the other night -- but with no luck -- same problem. It locks up (even when trying to use xf86cfg).

I tried a complete re-install from scratch with no luck either. So I'm kind of confused as to how things stopped working.

thanks,

James

I have a DFBSD system built from FreeBSD 4.8 as the starting point -- but XFree86 doesn't work any more, it just locks up, is this a known issue?

My only two floppy disks are corrupt so I can't install 4.9 (I know that sounds hopeless).

Basically, what I'm asking here is: if I blow the money on some new floppy disks, will starting from 4.9 fix the problem? If it isn't going to fix the problem (and this is a known baddie) then I'll save the money for food (don't ask).

Thanks guys,

James

Have you tried recompiling from the dfports override?
