Hello!

I wanted to backup 20GB hard disk (running FreeBSD 4.10p3) via ethernet to DragonFly_Stable machine (DragonFly 1.1-Stable (GENERIC) #0: Mon Nov 29 21:03:26 CET 2004). It managed to transfer almost 600MB when it got time out. After that the network was unreachable - nothing worked. I even rebooted remote machine in order to get clearer picture, but it did not help. What DID help was simple "fix" from FreeBSD 3.x days and old Etherlink cards: ifconfig down/up! Suddenly everything started to work again. I was using Realtek card:

rl0: <RealTek 8139 10/100BaseTX> port 0xd800-0xd8ff mem 0xd8800000-0xd88000ff irq 14 at device 11.0 on pci0
miibus1: <MII bus> on rl0
rl0: MAC address: 00:60:52:0a:80:10

rl0: flags=8843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500
        inet 1.2.3.15 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 1.2.3.255
        inet6 fe80::260:52ff:fe0a:8010%rl0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x2
        inet 1.2.3.151 netmask 0xffffffff broadcast 1.2.3.151
        ether 00:60:52:0a:80:10
        media: Ethernet autoselect (100baseTX <full-duplex>)
        status: active

So far it managed to transfer over 3gigs of traffic with no problem.

Tomaž
