So I booted up with acpi disabled, but no change happening. Was there
any code ported from FreeBSD recently that could be the cause of this?

There's a fix to my mouse problem also, its this:

Hopefully it will be committed to HEAD asap. I tested the patch in
FreeBSD 5.4, it works.
