Only 'clue' that strikes me is whether there is a mismatch between what was used 
to generate the keys and what you are entering NOW as an e-mail address.

But that from very stale recollections of PGP on OS/2, not GPG on anything, and 
I wouldn't use KDE at gunpoint so....
