The system per default uses libthread_xu and firefox and thunderbird both have problems connecting to sslized services. switching back to libc_r fixed the problem.

I just wanted to follow up to point out that this is quite a problem with libthread_xu at the moment. I'd appreciate any input/resolution regarding this. We shouldn't ship 2.0 with this problem.

David, do you have any idea why thunderbird and firefox wouldn't be able
to connect to ssl services? (Meaning, they just spin, connections get established though) This sometimes happens, sometimes not. Of course it could also be a timing issue within mozilla, but I doubt that.

I tried debugging it, but thunderbird does millions of mutex operations, so I can't really get to the problem.

cheers
