branches.  They'll want something like the freebsd-security
(or maybe call it freebsd-safe) branch.

along with the packaging system. All of the security updates can
be pushed out via a tagging inside the packaging system. ...

Hmm. Yeah, that's a good point. That goal is such a major change that I keep forgetting how much potential it has to change the way "Business is Done".
