Check out the rest of the thread. DES mentioned that bitstring.h was
sub-optimal for this purpose. There were further replies, but I'm not
sure if anything conclusive has hit the lists yet.

Perhaps it would be wise to hold off for a few days and see what comes
up in the discussion on the FreeBSD lists. You never know, it might
help.
