Hello!

Where do you place in your $PATH /usr/pkg/{bin,sbin} ? First? Last?r
Do the pkg_* utils from pkgsrc interract safely with the ones from FreeBSD's
ports (which I assume are the ones in /usr/sbin/) ?

I tried for awhile to keep both ports and pkgsrc. I did it by keeping two different files with different PATH variables and sourcing the appropriate PATH depending on which package system I was using.

The pkg utils from the two systems are not compatible, but as long
as you are careful to use the correct utility (based on the PATH)
and keep the pkg databases in two different directories, you can do it.

I finally just deleted /usr/local/* and /usr/X11R6/* last week
because the decision is now official for pkgsrc. The only serious
consequence of doing this was that I lost cvsup, and ezm3 won't yet
build from pkgsrc. (I believe Joerg is working on this now.)
