Do know when DragonFly would support 64-bit? Can DF easily be ported to AMD64 (have any of the changes the DF team to their 4.x FBSD kernel made this step more trivial) or does it come down to a full rewrite of DF for 64bit?

I believe that work on making the code support 64-bit has been done and more is under way, however all parts are not done yet.

We have been supporting 64bit since always because FreeBSD-4 had an alpha port. I think it boils down to have the MD pieces for amd64. That's no walk in the park though.

Uhm, not really. There are quite a few parts, like the BUF code, drivers, etc which need to be cleaned up so that they work without issues on 64 bit systems.
