I've experiencing hangs on my DFly box, since march 28, 29 or 30, I don't
remember when I cvsuped that time. I have cvsuped 2 or 3 times after that
days and the problem is still there.

I have just take times and it hangs after an hour and a half using X:
GNOME 2.10 running Gaim, XMMS sometimes, XChat, and Firefox. Someone told
me on IRC that he was having the same trouble with his nVidia card, but I
don't have nVidia card or drivers for it.

I can't get any message from console 'cause it just hangs and reboots in
the moment.

Thanks!

Can you ssh in from another box and keep an eye on it while it is leading up to the problem?

I had something similar happening in *minutes* with Xfree86 and either GNOME or Xfce4.

The only process showing a problem was X itself, going from 4-5% CPU load to a rapid but trackable ramp up to 98%+ before it made even 'top' useless.

The fix was to use *neither* the nVidia Generic, nor the card-specific nVidia driver, but rather 'generic VESA'

Stable since then 24 X 7 for about a week so far.

Card here was an elderly nVidia TNT-2 with 32 MB of RAM.

HTH,

Bill
