Are you saying Ruby is somehow easier than Python? A novice can pick up the gist of Python in a day. How easy can it get? Ruby doesn't really offer anything over Python, and Python has a larger set of modules & a larger user base. I can't see any reason to pick Ruby over Python myself. Also the "whitespace issue" is a non-issue for actual users of the language as it (pretty much) just enforces good indentation style [aka readable code].
